Staff Accountant
Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant will assist in preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organization’s revenues, expenses, and other related financial activities.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assists with general cost accounting, preparation of monthly billings, sales reports, cost adjustments, and collection of all billing-related documents.
- Assists with the preparation of work in process schedule.
- Reconciles customer accounts, and assists with accounts receivable collections.
- Manages payments to subcontractors, reviewing for complete documentation.
- Coordinates with the software vendor to maintain accounting software systems; recommends and implements updates to enhance the accounting software.
- Manages the purchasing and invoicing system.
- Completes pre-qualifications, license renewals
- Codes invoices, set up new accounts/vendors, reconciles accounts.
- Assists in the Implementation and management of the accounts payable ACH payment system.
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform an annual audit.
- Files tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
- Understanding of and the ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles.
- Proficient with current computer software with emphasis on Excel, ERP systems, and other office software and equipment.
Education and Experience:
- Minimum of Associate’s degree required, (Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred)
- Two years of related experience preferred.
